I nodded, but the words provided little encouragement. Where was God’s perfect plan, perfect timing? I had finally met the girl of my dreams and six months later I was standing at an airport watching her leave. I couldn’t ask her to stay, that wasn’t fair to her and it would interfere with God’s plan for her life, but where did we fit into that plan. We weren’t really serious enough to have me move with her, we would just accumulate a pile of debt both living in a new city. And suppose I did move there, would she stay over the summers to be with me and not see her family? This didn’t make any sense, but how can I let her go? What happens when we are thousands of miles apart trying to hold a long distance relationship together when she would have ample opportunity to meet new people, new guys! Fear tightened around my chest, how do I let her go Lord? How can I watch as that plane takes her away from me? The question was left unanswered as the flight attendant called for the final boarding of passengers on the flight bound for Chicago. “I have to go,” she said. I pulled her into our last embrace hoping that the memory would linger long in my mind. I tasted salt and felt her chin quiver. Those moments told me just how much she was struggling to follow God’s plan. She pulled away and ran toward the gate. I didn’t move, just watched her back recede into the tunnel. Why Lord? Why take her away? What will happen to us? How will we manage to hold it together?

I would like to have experienced more feelings. I wanted to feel right along with him, taste the tears.
Great thoughts.
