Immersed in endless darkness and well beyond repair,
The air was deadly silent, even the wind stopped short and died,
An eerie stillness cloaked them all as women wept and cried,
The rooster crowed; and echoed in the deathly, still, night air,
While dejection like an iron fist grasped the hearts of all those there,
Mocking words and scornful terms died upon their lips,
Their blood ran cold and icy from their toes to fingertips,
They stood in utter disbelief as the world beheld the sight,
As the son of man though God himself was killed that very night,
Every eye that looked was blurred with tears and every heart was filled with fear,
With the knowledge that with his death the end for them drew near,
Deserted by man, god and friend he hung there all alone,
He bared his death in silence, barely did he moan,
A picture of defeat and loss as they took him to the grave,
An innocent man who died at the hands he dared to save,
The world stood on and witnessed its most horrendous act of evil,
At the base of that very cross, all thought satin would prevail,
But as the world looked on in fear at the defeat which they beheld,
The lord looked on in love and saw his plan to save the world.
