Topic: Christmas (04/25/05)
Tick! Tick! Tick! came the sound from somewhere in the room. Something in my subconscious knew where the sound was coming from but I had a lot of suggestions coming from my conscious mind.
"Oh! it's the hen pecking at the feeder in its cage.
"No, its the horse hitting its hoof against the manger. Or, is it the sound of the shepherds' knocking at the door to lay down their gifts?
"Could it be from Mary's feet as she rocked her new baby or from Joseph the carpenter as he made a new crib for the baby?
"Or, wait a minute, could it be the wonder baby chuckling? Less likely!
"MERRY CHRISTMAS", my little cousin shouted to someone I couldn't figure out.
Tick! Tick! Tick!
Was that a clock?
Yes, it was actually the sound of my table clock.
It was indeed December 25, my latest CHRISTMAS.

What a cute story and I loved the way there was so many ways to remember what must have happened on that night so long ago.

Great start! With just a little fine tuning this story could really cook. Loved how you had us headed in one direction and then we were in the present moment.
