Topic: Craft (as in handcraft) (02/08/07)
The table lay cluttered with the ingredients to create a masterpiece
The creator studied the empty paper
Waiting for the inspiration that often visited
The bowed head opened the eyes of the artist

The paper knew when the light entered the eyes
That today the hours would be long and satisfying
Before the sunset he would be a masterpiece
His brother had been one a few days ago

Faced with the knowledge of becoming great
He watched the light of dawning and planning
How long before the process began
Before the artist delivered his edict to the paper

The scissors lay shimmering on the table in anticipation
The paper lay silent before its designer
Surrounded by the colors, ready to be applied
Uncorked glue set ready to hold the creation firm.

The artist reached down, the smile signaled the beginning
Did the Lord enjoy our creation, glowing during the labor?
Did he look at us with the eyes of light?
To be sure for He said, it was good

The craft lay completed all parts smiled
Pleased at what they had become, knowing they were good
Had not the artist himself said so, his eyes had glowed
The craft knew it would be sold, he was a success

The craft knew the artist was guided by the hands of God
All the parts of his creation had been, created by God
All that viewed him with pleasure, were too part of creation
What are we waiting for, only the hand of God

Your title was intriguing and drew me to read your poem-like piece.

I'm not certain I understood exactly what the artist was creating, though, and maybe some elaboration would have helped me see the scene more clearly.

Your point of view, from the perspective of the waiting piece of paper, was very interesting! Keep writing! :)

I'm not big on prose. But there is a good message here. Keep it up, I'm sure there are many out there who love prose.
