Towards the end of each year, Time Magazine focuses on the person or persons that would grace the cover as the “Person of the Year”. As 2006 came to a close, it was time for Time Magazine to unveil, whether friend or foe to the United States, who would become the person of the year. Before the December 25, 2006 issue would be on every news stands, Time Magazine had already selected the person of the year and made their announcement on national television. And the nominee goes to…”You – Yes You. You control the information age. Welcome to your world.”

Wow! Who would have thought that I would be nominated in such high regard for this category? I haven’t done anything significant to deserve this honor. But God said, “You are definitely worthy to be distinguished among the rest.” The Time article cites to “look at 2006 through a different lens and you’ll see another story, one that isn’t about conflict or great men. It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It's about the cosmic compendium (short account) of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people's network YouTube [sic] and the online metropolis MySpace [sic]. It's about the many wresting (usurp forcefully) power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.”

The world is perpetually changing with technological and societal issues; however, the Lord still remains the same yesterday, today and forever more. He wants us to see, through his lens, the splendor of his creation. As God spoke these words in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…,” he took the time to fashion us to be “created after God in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24).” We are literally a thing of his making according to Ephesians 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We are God’s handiwork chosen for a specific task to effect change for he has given us his divine authority (Luke 10:19).

Unquestionably, I am a work of art for I am created in his image and his likeness. I am a “vessel unto honor, sanctified and meet for the master’s use (2 Timothy 2:21).” Given that “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) by my Creator, I want to thank Time Magazine for selecting me as the “Person of the Year”. This is not your doing but the Lord’s and “it is marvelous in our eyes (Psalm 118:23).” I am the Lord’s agent of change to bring glory and praise unto his name.
