“My wife and I had an Italian treat, dining out last weekend away from our daughters”. “What a transformation this brought into our marriage. I’ve already started to reap the dividends”!
“Apart from this sweet resurrection in my relationship, we also learnt a new skill”.
The chefs were at their ‘thing’ and we watched with interest how our main course meal was prepared as we were treated to some onion soup as starters.
Before my very own eyes a native dish of Bucatini Pasta with Cuttlefish (Farfalle al mascarpone) was made. Just the right meal to warm you on a cold winter night!
“Oh, how sweet my dream was”!
"By mid-morning the next day, I met with a friend for a counseling appointment who had heavy depression".
“Alex has had a brilliant career as an entrepreneur making his first millions at 23yrs. Things spiraled out of control since the day he rejected a partnership deal with a man linked to the cult. Since then he’s lost every dime he made and became homeless at 45. This has made him heavily drug dependent as he always heard strange voices”.
“Ironically, He forsook Christ during his teenage years when his mother died of stray bullet on the way back from church. He blamed her death on God”.
As I listened to Alex’s life account; the Lord brought a flash-back of the Italian dish’s preparation to my mind and I heard, “Jonah’s cooking recipe”!
“I am the Head Chef that knows what ingredient that best bring out the best aroma out of all my creation”. “Tell him that I have chosen him in the furnace of Affliction and I’d accomplish my purpose in his life irrespective of his decision”.
“Alex”, I asked. “Do you believe God loves you and is preparing you for some thing so great, greater than you have ever imagined”?
“Why are you so stubborn and think you can eat your cake and have it”?
“You are just like prophet Jonah, who God so loved, but had to first cook properly in His pot before the world could taste the real aroma of what you’re made from”.
“All the situations you have ever been through were allowed of God to help stir you back on the right track. But you have proved hard to get”!
“God created you. And like He knows Jonah; He knows the best preparation time (how long you’d take to cave in), cooking location (drenched in helplessness), ingredients such as the seaweeds (spinach and herbs), appropriate heat temperature (the Fish’s hot belly), and the spices (fish flavors, tuna fillets) needed to break your resistance so that everything would mix together to produce that specific aroma He wants.
"This was why it took him just a day to make a journey of three days!
"He had been well cooked no wonder the result"!
But should you not yield now, you’d let him change your cooking area to be where you so dread”!
"The occult guy is just a tool to get you back to your First love which is to Jesus.
He is standing at the door of your heart awaiting you to open the door for him to come in.
While the depression is a thorn in the flesh he allowed as well to let you rediscover your priorities in life.
I’ve had my share of God’s cooking as well and it came with a scar to always remind me to keep my priorities focused on Him".
"Alex just fell on his knees and started crying like a boxer in surrender, seeing all his hopes at a draw had been squashed"!
"He rededicated his life to Jesus Christ that morning".
