Dust to dust, ashes to ashes we return
Nothing to admire but the trove that it may hide
A diamond in the rough, a pan of gold to eye
Still miracles happen here
From the nothingness of mere seeds
To lushness and life from my labor
Here in the garden miracles truly happen
A whole new world is created for me
A place of prayers and dreams
Where long lost wishes and memories
Come to dance among the green
But much has to be done
Before such things are to come
Much hardness must be broken
And there must be constant tending
Time and energy must be spent
To keep the invaders from getting in
And protect it from forces that ride the winds
Persistence and patience will bring forth fruit
Only if I am faithful to the needs
Of my garden and be ever gentle
With the pruning of the unwanted
And joyless stems and leaves
Much time seems to pass before signs
Of life surface beyond the dirt and grime
But the small sprout lings bring such joy
To my tired hands that never cease
The love of my garden grows as it too increases
Reaching to higher plains and growing
More in depth and expanding with each day
With the every new morning’s rays and rain
I wait, controlling myself from moments
Of frustration and disappointments
For then I might miss the wonder around me
Those that have not failed and are already bloomed
Eagerly I count down the days
Till my harvest is ripe
When it is ready to yield its fruits
So that I may have my bounty
For in the garden miracles happen here
From the nothingness of mere seeds
To lushness and life from my labor
Here in the garden miracles truly happen
A whole new world is created for me
A place of prayers and dreams
Where long lost wishes and memories
Come to dance among the green
Not for me alone
What use is it to have a harvest
When not shared it rots and wilts away too soon
Making it unable to use its fruit
My garden was created not just for me
Intended to share these gifts
To show His love
For that is the miracle that happens here
Looking pass the dirt
Seeing what is more
Believing what could be there
And being what He intended
In the garden miracles happen here
From the nothingness of mere seeds
To lushness and life from Love’s labor
Here in His garden miracles truly happen
