The Cross


I’m here to tell a story
About a cross of wood
It tells about God’s glory
How to men He was so good

It starts with just a boy you see
He was so meek and kind
He learned what He was meant to be
Sacrifice for mankind

Yes willingly He let them lead
Him to the cross that day
He looked ahead and saw the seed
He planted on the way

He knew He would not die in vain
God, His Father had told Him so
The rugged cross His blood did stain
The wind began to blow

King of the Jews they shouted loud
While on the cross He hung
Darkness grew now with every cloud
Angels in heaven sung

His final breathe which He then took
His spirit He handed over
He said, “Now Father, take a look
Their sins I now do cover”

The story has not ended though
God did not leave Him there
For from the grave He has arose
He paid the price my dear

The cross, it means so much to me
Jesus helped me see it clear
With Jesus we’ll live eternally
It proves God loves us dear
