WORSHIP OF TITLES AND POSITIONS AMONG LEADERS:

Looking again at what the Lord said concerning the dream, He said that “many of His leaders, from the smallest to the biggest, worshiped their titles and positions in the Church more than they worshiped Him.” He said, “Some of them I have truly called, and some of them I have not called. There are those who have either called themselves or they have allowed someone else to convince them that I‘ve called them to My ministry.
If you recall, He also said, “Many of My leaders are standing behind the titles of Apostle’s, Prophet’s, Evangelist’s, Pastor’s and Teacher’s, and they are prostituting My gospel. They’re prostituting worship because they want to be the object of the people’s worship. With their lips they claim to point the people to the worship of Jesus. They claim to call My people to worship Me, but in their hearts, they want the worship of the people for themselves.”

ITS ALL ABOUT WORSHIP:
============================
This is what Satan wanted before he became Satan and was still in heaven being called, Lucifer. We need to understand that from day one of creation, the whole deal has always been about ‘worship.’ Mankind giving worship to the One true God. At the time when Adam and Eve were in right standing with God, their worship of Him was pure. That changed when Satan came seeking to turn their allegience and pure worship from God to him. Plainly and simply, Satan wanted to be worshiped.

In order for him to get the worship of the first couple, he first had to shake their faith and trust in God and in His Word. He had to get them to doubt that God wasn’t a God of His Word, that He had given them the shuck, so to speak, in the plan of things. He had to get Adam And Eve to believe that God was holding out on them. Satan even went so far as to intimate that if they ate the fruit, they would become as wise as God. In fact, they could be their own god for that matter.

Of course, what he didn’t bother to tell them was the truth. Everything Satan said was a lie
(John 8:44). He boldly told them that when they ate the forbidden fruit, they wouldn’t die like God had said they would. He also didn’t bother to tell them that he would become their god after they ate the fruit. They would be enslaved to him through sin. They would no longer know the freedom they’d had in right relationship with God. Even in the boundaries God had set for their good, they had known freedom.

After they had sinned, a transfer had taken place. They had transfered their allegience of worship from the great God Jehovah to a foreign god---Satan. And the Lord says, “Have no other god’s before Me, because I’m a jealous God.” Are you hearing what I’m saying to you? Satan had used his calling card on the first couple, “deception” to get them to be disobedient and believe that they could achieve a higher success apart from God. Jesus said plainly, “Apart from Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

As we well know, satan succeeded in breaking their true worship of God almighty. We were created to worship and if you’re not worshiping Jehovah God, you’re going to worship something else. And if not God, then you’re going to give your worship to self, other people, things, demon no-gods (objects that demon spirits are attached to), money, career, education, etc. And so, Satan had succeeded in shifting Adam and Eve’s worship over to him.

And within that transfer of Adam and Eve’s allegience from God to Satan, not only would he gain their worship but he would gain their sphere of God-given authority in the earth as well. Some neat little package, huh? So now, since the nature of Satan is in the first couple through sin, with it came the bent toward ‘self-worship’ and a desire to be center stage. From the moment a baby is born, it’s cry is for self. It’s main objective is self and it’s wants and comfort. It’s not concerned if you’re inconvenienced at night by loosing sleep while his needs are seen too. Baby’s grow up to be adults in body but until “self” is sacrificed on God’s altar, we will continue to act like the “cry-baby” who wants what he wants when he wants it, and he wants it right now! Unfortunately, there are still a lot of “babies” in the Church but I believe the Holy Spirit is at work more intensely today bringing us more into maturity in Christ Jesus. Lets back up a minute to cover a little bit more of Satan’s time in heaven.

THE GOD OF SELF:

From the book of Ezekiel, we know that Lucifer was in a very high position on God’s heavenly staff. It was a position that God placed him. He was Musical Worship Minister over the heavenly choir. He led all of heaven in worship of God. And at that time, even Satan himself worshiped God. Thats a hard thing to imagine but the Bible’s account of it is true.

In the book of Job chapter 38, where God is talking to Job about His work of creation and asking Job where he was when he did all this. In verse 7 God is asking, where were you Job, “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” The sons of God refers to angels. And this Scripture says that the angels, including Satan rejoiced together in unity and shouted for joy over God’s work of creation. Keep in mind, he hadn’t been kicked out of heaven yet.
When you look further in the 28th chapter of Ezekiel, you see that Satan was the anointed cherib. He was highly anointed and gifted to create beautiful sounds of heavenly worship to God. But there came the time when he began to lift up his heart in pride, thinking to himself that he was so good, he deserved a promotion. Don’t this same thing happen in the body of Christ? Yes, it does. Worship leaders in the church are especially vulnerable to this spirit, therefore they must remain humble in mind and heart before God.

Somebody else in the church may think they should be in a higher position of leadership. They may have the secret thought that they’re too good, too gifted, to be in the background. They believe their gift is being wasted in cleaning out toilets and serving the pastor in whatever way is needed. What’s wrong with a person like this? No, servants heart. You see, although Satan had a high position on God’s staff, he never learned to have a servants heart and to serve. He wanted to BE served instead. Am I talking to anybody? Jesus said, “I didn’t come to be served, but to serve.” Satan walked on God’s holy mountain, I mean, how high can you go?

But Satan was so gifted, he thought he should be receiving all the worship instead of God. Therefore, instead of releasing that outward worship to God as he’d done before with joy, listen carefully now, he began turning that worship inward and when he did, he began to worship himself. He adopted the attitude of, “Well, if I can’t get anybody else to worship me, I’ll just worship myself. If I can’t get anybody else to praise me, I’ll just praise myself.” So, he became his own god, worshiping the god of ‘self.’ Are you hearing me? (to continue)
