Destiny

I woke up to sirens, at first, I thought it was my alarm, but I couldn’t get it to shut off. There were multiple sirens blasting in the cool morning air. The sirens stopped upon arrival at the collision site. A van crossing the train tracks was hit by the train. Four young men lost their lives and four were flown to the hospital by Lifeflight helicopters.

This accident was very tragic. The van was thrown into a ditch spilling its contents along the side of the tracks. These young men left this morning for work as usual, just another typical day. And then wham! Destiny opened her mouth and swallowed four souls. I don’t know if any knew Jesus, or were saved.

This really weighed heavy on my heart. What if they weren’t saved? Were they prepared to meet Jesus? We take for granted the life we are given, we expect tomorrow to arrive when we wake from our slumber. But the truth is we aren’t guaranteed our next breath. We are surrounded by death and it doesn’t discriminate. It crosses all ethnic and racial borders. Only God knows how many days we are given on this earth.

The spiritual condition we are in when we pass from this life will be what we face in judgment. There are no do overs, once it’s over the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. We must be prepared, tomorrow, it could be a train wreck and our wicks could be snuffed out. We are living in the last days and must live accordingly. We need to be ready, today you may see Jesus. Is He going to say, well done, good and faithful servant, or is He going to say, away from me, I don’t know you. We are on a collision course with destiny and have the choice of spending it in heaven or hell. The choice is ours.
