Mother's Day Wishes

May has come and brought her flowers
And all the glories of the Spring
Bounty born of April showers
Trees alive with birds that sing

And with this beauty like no other
May also brings us Mother's Day
A day to celebrate our Mother
And love her in a special way

But Mother you're no longer with us
You've gone now to the Father's home
To savor glories far more wondrous
Than May on earth has ever shown

Yet mother, how you loved the Spring
You fed the birds and planted flowers
Morning light would often find you
Out enjoying them for hours

So now I find on Mother's day
These wishes fill my mind
I wish that I could find some way
To travel back in time

I wish I'd found more ways to love you
While there was still time
More often called and talked to you
And touched your life with mine

I wish I'd come and stayed
A little bit more often
For if I had these guilty pangs
Most likely would be softened

I wish that I still had the chance
To share my kids with you
I wish my grandbabies could have
The Granny they never knew

For how much richer they would be
If only they had known
The sunshine of your loving ways
That was so warmly shown

And then I wish that when we saw
That you were leaving soon
I wish I'd stayed there by your bed
And never left your room

I wish I'd kissed you one more time
And maybe brushed your hair
And been there when the angels came
To release you to their care

But you and God had other plans
And I don't need to know
Just to trust that you knew best
When it was time to go

So mother I take comfort
I know you feel my love
You have that perfect knowing now
That all those have above

I know that you forgive me
For all my selfish ways
And that I'll make it up to you
In that yonder day

We'll have all those moments
We were missing here on earth
We'll share true life forever
And comprehend its worth

So now I'll wish you Mother
A joyous Mother's Day
And I'll see you in the morning
When it always will be May!
