I was thinking this morning as I walked in the cold, brisk air, my fingers chilled to the bone, of the cup of hot coffee that was waiting for me when my walk was done and I got back home.

It made me think of all the kinds of cups, they come in all colors, sizes and shapes, and they all have one thing in common, whatever liquid we pour in they will take.

Some cups are tiny, fragile and thin, like little old ladies having high tea, others are thick, sturdy and tall, as if to say 'wrap your hands around me.'

There is nothing better than to hold one of these cups, filled with hot chocolate or coffee to the brim, and the warmth spreads from the tips of your fingers to a glow that settles inside.

It made me think that we are like cups, all different, yet all waiting to be filled - and once I was too afraid to pour anything in, for I feared if I did, it would spill.

So instead I went around feeling empty, thinking that was the way it had to be, for if there was nothing in the cup to be found, then I was safe, for then no one could see me.

One day in answer to a silent plea, I felt Jesus standing next to me, and He gently asked if I would let Him in, He'd show me the beauty I could be.

When I said yes, the change was so swift, Jesus washed and polished my cup, and then He poured in all His love, peace and joy, and the glow of it just filled me up.

I learned more about Him by reading His word, and through that I learned what to do, for following Him was like re-filling my cup, and His love taught me what was true.

After a time, when things were just right, God made my secret dream come true - for He wanted my cup of love to overflow, and that's when I met you.

Now every day is a cup full of joy to wrap my hands around, for all the love and peace and blessings are just waiting to be found.

Every day is fresh, the love is brand new, and fills my heart up to the brim, for it just can't contain all the love I feel for you, my gift that came straight from Him.

I wait eagerly each day to see what fills my cup.

What new things will be discovered today, for they all are expressions of the love I have for you, speaking what mere words can never say.
