I remember when my boys were growing up and we'd spend our vacation camping out on the shore of a lake, and for that wonderful lazy time, any fun we had we had to make.

One day we had a secret hunt, and early in the morning while the boys still slept, I hid the clues among the trees, in the sand, and in any hidey-hole where a clue might be kept.

When the boys awoke they had such a grand time, spending the day looking for the clues, each one leading to the next, after they figured out what to do.

For each clue was also a puzzle that had to be deciphered first, and if you missed what it had to say, you were stuck, and oh, that was the worst!

The end of the hunt brought them back to the camp, where special treats were the order of the day, and as darkness fell, the boys crawled into their sleeping bags, happily tired from the hours of play.

It mad me think of our life together now, and each day is a puzzle brand new, and together we search out the clues for the day, to see where to go and what to do.

God gives us the hints, He nudges us on, tells us softly which path to take, and to find the things He has left, the people we are to meet, the love and joy we are to give instead of take.

It is such happiness to go forth, my hand safe inside of yours, to gather up the riches in each hour, to share time together, to gather up new memories like bouquets of flowers.

At the end of the day, we can look back and see the love and joy God gave to us this day, and the joy that fills my heart just to have spent that time with you is so much more than any words can ever say.

I thank God for the memory of the boys and the secret hunts, when the joy of each moment was fresh and new, for that is the joy that I have each day of my life, because I get to share each one with you.
