God he is my defense
He's my rock, my soul and shield
He is my sword, helmet and breastplate
and my wheel in the middle of the wheel
He is the lily of the valley
My bright and morning star
He is my comfort when I'm lonely
and my guide when I travel far
He is my anchor in the troubled waters
He is my ship out on the bay
He's that beam of light that shines so bright
so to lead me all the way
He is my sign post on the highway
so I can know which way to turn
that gives me a warning as I go to and fro
when I take time to learn
His traveling map, the Holy Word
so I will never get lost
For he gave me the right directions
and he already paid the cost
Now, I may need him to be my shovel
so if I get down he can dig me out
For to him the soul is precious
that's why we need him on this route
For on this road we need some guidance
to be whatever that it has to take
And I found him to be my every thing
on this journey I have to make
