As I stood at my window looking out;
I noticed a small pack had formed
Each coat they wore, was unique and different
but it wasn't out of the norm

One was dressed in black and white stripes
another wore long feathers of white
Nod the cat was don in fabulous gray fur
and there was Winky decked in orange so bright

My eyes caught Blinky spawled on the car roof
trying to be cool in his slick black duds
For he had left the others to take a cat nap
but sure could use a quick dip in some suds

Then old George appeared with a sly grim
in orange and white looking like a jungle cat
Walking with pride with head held high
with pointed ears that could well been a hat

Old Charlie the chicken was feeding his belly
strutting here and there with his flat feet
He had quiet a build for a rooster of his age
oh what a joy I get when they all meet

But old Maverick the duck I see no more
could he had landed on someone's dinner plate
I really do miss that cut wobble that he had
and of the times that he started a deabate

Even the blue Jays have gone off the scene
I belive the pack has missed them too
Though at times when they had to run for cover
when Blinky wanted their hides to chew

But still somehow this did amaze me
in how they all got along so well
Though different styles and colors too
they never went into any details

All seem to accept each other with grace
never any fear of being left out
These are only animals, my backyard junkies
that did prove what love can be about
