God Does Not Subscribe Retirement

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 ESV

Faith is assigned, given to us from God, so too, we each are given at least one ‘Spiritual Gift.’ When discovered, used for our daily walk of faith, for God’s honor. This applies to all followers of Jesus. Whether you’re in full time ministry, or pursuing a selected career, we are all to be recognized as; growing and learning to become ‘doers of His purpose and will. (James 1:22)

My own 40 plus years employed as a U S Civil Servant, were very rewarding to me because serving others was my product. My vocational background was largely in administration, finance and accounting, but my ultimate blessing resulted was in knowing my heart was honoring my Redeemer.

Subsequent to my retirement from Government service, our Lord allowed me to serve lay pastoring at a Re-Hab Center in a nearby community. The presence of His Spirit and power are not finished with me just because I’m in my 80’s. God will equip and strengthen us. We are all in life’s gift of growing and learning. To listen to the ‘Voice of God’s Spirit’ and the ‘Voice of God’s word’ to lead.

 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

Remember what happened when Joshua told the Israelites before crossing the Jordan into the promised land? When the ark of the Lord, carried by the priests, stepped into the waters? The waters parted into a heap, like the Red Sea with Moses. God uses His creation to equip us for all the years before us, young or old.

Father, thank you for teaching us; retirement is not in your vocabulary. You open new doors and continue to part waters.
