Tasks Completed are Through God’s Grace
                     By Robert Schaetzle

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV

Growing up, I recognized my earthly dad’s perseverance to finish what he started. Where I grew up in Wisconsin, he had a small machine shop. In my eyes he was a very good mechanical engineer. The products he designed and manufactured for his clients were a test of his perseverance  of faith and grace.

Much of what come out of dad’s shop was our bread and butter for us, to provide for our family. Those years during the economic depression of the 30’s and through WW2 it has been said we had everything but money. My parents, like many others growing up then, were quite resourceful to make things work with what we had. My dad would agree to a project with a handshake, not always a written contract. The integrity and moral fiber in our culture was not as we witness today.

My point, the admonition and encouragement we receive from our Lord to remain ‘Steadfast.’ Our culture of integrated technology and artificial intelligence of today, we tend to lose the important over the urgent.

Another great truth;  Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

I’m ever so thankful for my dad’s determination to finished what he started. I Like working with my hands in caring for my home projects. Dad taught me well, to finish what I begin.

We are to recognize ALL our tasks, no matter what they might be, in serving, maybe in teaching, or administration, much of what I did for a living, do heartly, as unto God’s honor.

Thank you Father, teaching us what we start to finish for your honor.

Robert serves in a Sharing and caring Ministry to encourage and strengthen God’s word in us.
