If you thought that Christmas was about
The Christmas tree.
Think again!
For it was on the tree
That the Saviour paid the debt of us all.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The green pines and firs.
Touch them again!
These symbolise hope and strength
Endless life offered to us by the Birthday King himself!
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Candy Cane.
Look again!
The Cane is shaped
Like none other than the Good Shepherd's staff
To lead us to fresh waters and green pastures.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Star on top of the tree.
Raise your eyes!
The Star represents David's Star
That shone and stopped in front of the Manger.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The snow and sleet.
Feel again!
The snow signifies the purity
Of the Divine Master born this day.
If you that Christmas was about
The lights that go all around the tree.
Blink again!
The light reminds us of the True Light
Which brightened the world with His presence
The eclipsed darkness to vanish forever.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The ribboned Wreath.
Reflect again!
The wreath is a pale comparison
Of the Crown of Thorns that will overshadow it.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The bells that jingle all the way.
Remind yourself!
The bells should chime to celebrate the momentous arrival
Of the Stump of Jesse, the root of Love.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Mistletoe!
Stand again!
For you should be standing beneath the Ray from Heaven.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Stockings and Goodies!
Fill again!
The best we can give is Faith, Hope and Love
Heaps and loads to fill the season.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Sledges and Reindeers.
Travel again!
Be the present day sledge to reach out to all
The message of Christmas to be grasped by all.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The Holiday season.
Come to your senses!
It is the Birthday of our God.
Praise, honour and worship
Is the Theme of the season!
If you thought that Christmas was about
A year end party.
Stop in your tracks!
This party should only be a Tribute
To the grand King born in a stable for us.
If you thought that Christmas was about
Red and big Hearts.
Pause a while!
The Heart belongs to him.
The one who heals the broken hearted
Who binds up their wounds.
If you thought that Christmas was about
Greetings cards and gifts.
Choose again!
The First card should be written
To the One who holds this season.
The best gift our Love for him.
If you thought that Christmas was about
Spirit and cheer.
Toast again!
The Spirit should be Holy and unto the Lord.
The Wine to remember the New Wine of his Blood.
The Cheer should be talking about him, sharing his Love with others.
If you thought that Christmas was about
The fireplace, warmth and carved stuffing.
Cuddle anew!
Let the hearth of your home welcome a lonely heart inside
So that the joy of the season is missed by none.
If you thought that Christmas was about
Going all over the place with feston and glitter.
Turn around!
Christmas is taking Christ with us all around
To those who have not known him.
To those whose candles have burned out in grief
To those who face trials as harsh as the winter.
So that they can see the Promise of the One who was always with them.
Christmas is a season
Where Jesus is the reason.
Love is the only seasoning.
The Crib, the Holy Family, the Manger and the Angel
These should stand out in our homes.
The fiesta should fade in the background
When the Christ Child shines in our home
To give us a new and merry life in him.
