              How Do We Sharpen God’s Sword?

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 ESV

Paul wrote in Ephesians six of God’s armor. To be put on the whole armor. He defines so clearly what God’s sword is. Nothing but the word of God! (Ephesians 6:17) I have been blessed for most of my life with purposing to lay up God’s word in my heart. By doing so I have benefited greatly with increasing my own faith walk with God’s promises. Recognizing His sufficiency is far greater than my reasoning or fear.

Peter likewise shares in his epistle; But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18.

Knowledge of God’s sword in our heart brings to us what I call ‘grace awakening.’ To recognize when and how to sharpen God’s sword. For sure, we must never injure others with God’s sword by throwing it at others to waken them to ‘New Birth.’ I love my family and extended family too much to leave scars of infliction upon their hearts that might never heal.

What I refer to as sharpening God’s sword, is understanding to recognize what we share or (preach) as many might be blessed to do, by bringing invitation. Not violation to God’s love and invitation to receive Him. The cutting edge of God’s sword can cleanse away sin through repentance. But that’s the result of invitation from God’s Holy Spirit to invite the hungry to His banquet.
