                           God’s Sword Is At Work

For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 RSV

I’m thankful I have much of God’s sword in my heart. From Ephesians chapter six,  the Apostle Paul encourages each follower of our lord to ‘put on God’s  whole armor’ that we be equipped against all the hosts of wickedness. The ‘WHY’ is so important; that we be equipped against attack from the powers of evil.

Earlier this week I had one of those attacks from an imposter scam that I did not identify right away. I could have lost thousands of dollars, were it not for the ‘power of God’s presence,’ to call out to. His Holy Spirit and much of God’s Sword in my heart alerted me what was happening. ‘And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.’ 2 Corinthians 11:4 Evil is at work both night and day with no boundaries, to who he might be attacking. Whenever and wherever.   

As we age we can become susceptible to the dangers of such attacks. We dare not put our guard down, but take hold ‘The Sword,’ God’s word. Proclaim the power of God’s authority and protection. Having God’s word in my heart becomes my best shield of defense to lean on. The ‘Voice of God’s Word’ will speak!   

What happened to me was a real life attack. We must not be casual about memorizing and meditating daily from ‘The Sword.’ Being discipled by God’s design is much more than taking part in ministry. It is recognizing the importance to want intimacy with our Lord. The faith God gives us, comes alive as our Spiritual weapon of defense. When the power of darkness throws his darts at our moment of vulnerability.

Father, thank you for your ‘Hedge of Protection’ about us.
