                                My Life Is What I Do

As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man. Proverbs 27:19.ESV

What people see in me is what they believe I am. Much more than any words I preach or proclaim. The real me cannot be hidden, living in a world dominated by technology of the flesh. Recall what Moses said in Genesis 11:5-6? Technology accomplished by reasoning and perseverance of human will. Great feasts have brought much comfort and good. But how many, for all the  accomplishments over the centuries of time, sought God first. For God’s honor, rather than mankind  taking the credit?

God was witnessing the corruption of mankind because of the determination of the flesh. All through the centuries, man’s will and innovations have accomplished great things.
 But ‘all we like sheep have gone astray,’ to keep on doing without desiring God’s honor. More so, in our modern technology age. We become recipient of the wonderful convenience’s of technology before us.

Is possessing God’s word like looking at your face in a pool of calm water? It can reflect where the heart is.  Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.”

‘When we think of what we promised we would be- we may weep whole storms of grief. Peter thought about denying his Lord: the place in which he did it, the minor cause that led him to such a heinous sin, the oaths and blasphemies which he sought to confirm his falsehood, and the dreadful hardness that drove him to deny Jesus again and yet again.’  (Charles Spurgeon)

Yes, our lives are what we do. God’s way of escape is through becoming better ‘doers of God’s word, instead of deceiving ourselves. This becomes evidence of being discipled by Him who gives us new birth.

Father, thank you for giving us your grace, your word, to find sufficiency for our living in what we do, amen.
