In the many places we travel, they are around us, very hard to miss. Human beings, like you, like myself. They are on roads, in parking lots and stores,in schools, churches, everywhere really. God loves them greatly, for they are precious to Him. But when His only begotten Son walked the many dusty roads of this earth many years ago, at least eleven followed Him. Many were healed by His miraculous power, because after all, this was God in human form, the same One who can do wonders, for whom nothing is too impossible, no problem difficult for Him to solve, He is the Mender and Healer of broken things. But there were a certain class of people who saw Him as a threat. So they kept a close eye on Him. You have probably read about them in the pages of the bible, They were known as religious leaders of that day, and they were all about religion, rules and regulations. But one word really sums them up, this word was one spoken most unashamedly when Jesus would call them out, For He knew when to stay silent, and when to speak up, He was filled with grace and truth. Hypocrites. And this word was spoken only justly by Jesus, because we know that He alone was without fault, being God shown in human form. He created man in the beginning, so He alone is allowed to define His creation. And He hates the works that are lukewarm, unwilling to accept cold, dead, sacrifices. Make no mistake, God does not desire for anyone to die without Him in their hearts. He made a way, but there is a choice we all must make, to either accept or reject the everlasting love that comes only from Him. The Pharisees constantly made their choice. They were stubborn, prideful, desiring to have their own way, They wanted to keep their usual customs and traditions, along with a weary list of rules and regulations. They followed religion, not the Creator of the cross. They accomplished works, desiring to be seen of people around them, but would not accept the only Way, The Truth, and the Life, who was, still is, and always will be, Jesus. They wanted to hold fast onto their traditions, instead of carrying their ''crosses'' alongside the sinless and suffering King of Calvary and the cross, as He would die (and eventually rise again to live evermore after the fact) out of love, for the many sins of all people. This is who the Pharisees were. And at one point, the bible makes a statement concerning an action they took against Jesus, that they watched Him. Here is God, man, and Son, all rolled into one person, and standing right before their condescending eyes, having had many encounters with them, and they have the audacity to say, We better watch Him. Keep an eye on Him. And honestly, some people need to be watched, but sometimes, the very ones who say unjustly, watch them, in other words, view them carefully, they are a threat to society, keep a close eye on them, they are at times the very ones who need to be kept on a tight leash, so to speak. I wonder what God thought about that statement. He tells us in His word to be watchful, and the bible says to walk circumspectly, in other words , wisely, carefully, and some times we as Christians must try to improve in so doing, because this earth can be a dangerous place. Try to be watchful, careful, cautious, alert, (while not becoming paranoid) with the help of God walking beside you. Look for the good always, in people. In situations. But know also that we Christians have a real enemy, looking for that perfect moment to make his move, and it is never each other, but it is the devil we should not be ignorant of. When Jesus was being watched carefully, He did not flinch or worry because of it. He probably did not say to His disciples, in retaliation and exchange for their misguided orders, '' Keep an eye on them likewise''. Listen to me, I tell you the truth, Do not let them out of your sight. Because if He was a real danger to people, He would not have come with mercy and love, kindness and truth, and a cross, with real passionate tears, crying, Father! Forgive them! Jesus is no one's enemy, not even in today's age that we live in. He came that all might have life, and have it more abundantly. But there will always be some who say, Watch Him. Guard Him. Make sure he (or she) does not make a wrong move. Make certain they do not come too close to us. We want this person just close enough to keep an eye out, but far enough to have nothing to do with! Keep Him out of certain places, certain organizations, Watch Him. And when some know you are a Christian, a saved follower of His, Be not surprised if they treat you as they did Him. As long as you are following Him with all you can, the best you can, with the aid of your havenly Father, Friend, and Lord over your heart and life, let the crowd say, think, do what they will, For you are in the hands of Jesus. He covers you there. He is your Keeper. Continue to follow in the footsteps of the One who is no stranger to suffering, adversity, or hardship, and is ever touched by the feelings of your infirmities. He knows the pressures you face, the sadness you feel, the tears that may be flowing even right now, and He cares for you ever deeply. If some hate you, they hated Him first. If any are against you, remember that God is for you, and nothing can ever truly stand against the love, compassion, and goodness, which He does and always will, shower down upon all our lives.
