Zechariah 4: 6-7 (Kjv)

I still, to this day, have some memory of my mom, dad, and myself taking a trip to a certain part of the mountains in Tenessee. My main re-collection is compiled of different moments of when we were actually there. We had arrived! And we were driving around that mountain, which seemed from what I see in my mind's eye, to be literally traveling in circles around those hills. In the time leading up to actually driving in circular motion, and then participating in certain ways, in that land called Tennessee, we had been noticing what almost appeared to be, as if standing right before us, shadows of those great mountains. Overall, after we reached the actual destination, I am sure that the shadows, or what we could see of them, had officially faded in the distance behind us. No more shadows, We were walking, (Well, really driving), (But you get the point.), on mountains. In the days ahead, you and I will face mountains in life. Obstacles. Adversity. Hard situations. But I am reminded of only a few of the greatest words spoken by God Himself, our Father and Friend, the Faithful One, in Verse 7 of Zechariah Chapter 4. The Lord has a message to give, and it concerns this certain man whose name may honestly be difficult for myself and others to correctly pronounce out loud, Zerubbabel.His calling, If you will, was in building a certain temple. A part of this word for him was in the form of a question: Who art thou, O great mountain? And when I think about this question, it encourages me, and certainly it can anyone who will likewise read it. It is a universal message really. What I believe God was saying, was, You are going to face opposition. You are going to face obstacles. There is a real being called Satan, and He is always waiting, anticipating the perfect moment to attack. Be alert and be strong and courageous. And it is never by your own strength or might, but through mine alone, flowing in and through your life, you will come out on the other side victorious, if you abide, stay close to me in my presence, and remember that you cannot do this work, (or anything else), that I desire you do, that I may be magnified through your life, without me, but you can always do it , because I walk with you. This is encouraging and an important word, that reminds us we do not walk alone in life. But we will all face trying and difficult times. And God says: Who are you, Oh great mountain? It is almost as if the very first use of sarcasm is used here, but not by mortan man. The picture of this mountain, may be in a way of appearance, an unusual one to some, the idea seems to be a type of arrogance, prideful and cocky, rude, and the usage behind the terminology, in the ancient form that is given actually means insolent. Have you seen a cocky or rude mountain. Have you heard a mountain recently, just heckling you, with insults, I hope you have not. But awkward kidding aside, that appears to be the painted scene here. The Lord is saying, You are no match, because I am with this person you are standing up against. You talk a good talk, and you are not a small mountain, instead, great in size, But do you know who I am? I am the greatest, the King of kings, Lord of lords, and this one has my attention, He is walking, reminded I am strong and mighty in and through His life, He is my servant and child, so let him alone, because you have no real power. The hard situations of life can seem as large mountains, those obstacles that lay ahead of you, just mocking you, and maybe even making a mockery of God in a negative way, They cry out! Who do think you are? Or God has left you! He is not there with you anymore. In those times, please remember this, God is real. And He loves you. If you ever hear words like those, that point you away from Him, they are lies, meant to harm you, not help, to turn you heart away from God. He is there always. But He is patient and knows how to wait, working only on His time schedule. But He always walks with you and toward you. Maybe if you are reading this, He could be holding out His hand, but waiting too for you to reach for His. It is never too late. He cares for you. We do not have to do this life alone. He remains greater than any obstacle, even closer than the shadows of mountains. There is a Bible verse that mainly tells us that God is closer than the shade, or shadow, of your and my, right hand. That is how close He is to us, if you picture sitting under a tree outside, the breeze blowing your way, and you raise your hand a certain way, noticing the dark and outlined illustration on the ground. God is right there, closer than that shadow. When life becomes difficult, we have a Friend in Him, One who will never part ways, but instead, will never leave nor forsake us. Try not to let negative thoughts, or lies cloud your mind during these moments. Because through Jesus, we overcome. Trust Him, our job is to believe He is who He says He is, and He can do what He knows He will do, That He is strong even through us, we have to trust Him, even though life becomes hard, and only with faith that comes from Him can we truly do this. But while we trust, pray, hold tight onto the treasured promises God has made to us from His word, and hang in there, enduring what is before us, maybe even crying out loud, or silently from the heart, Who are thou, Oh great mountain!? We wait. And then, sooner or later, we look, and see those same mountains, once standing, taunting us, overwhelming us by their sizes and statures, now removed and cast into the sea, washed away by the power of our God. And then we thank Jesus for always being comitted to our well-being in those hard times, for holding our hand when we felt overwhelmed at the sight of even the shadows of upcoming hardship. And now with lifted hands of praise to Him alone, we tread where the mountains once stood. And we know our glorious God will always be there beside us, when the next mountains replace the previous ones.

Nicely done and inspiring. I too have been to the mountains of TN as a child and working the area as an adult.
I would bet anything that the faithless ones who falling off financial cliffs where the level ground once stood still do not have a clue of what God has done for them. We are talking 3/4 the worlds population.
