Being Discipled Is Learning To Lead

 He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” John 14:21 RSV

Putting a new believer to work in Christ by way of becoming involved in the ‘The Body of Fellowship and Ministry is important. But growing intimacy in God’s word is paramount. We dare not  neglect the ‘important’ for doing the ‘urgent.’  New believer, or being a follower for many years. God takes delight in knowing His children learning to become doers of God’s word. (James 1:22)   

What I am implying is to recognize; serving in the strength of the flesh, or, learning to hear the ‘voice of God’s Word in their heart to lead.
 ‘ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, indeed it cannot.’ Romans 8:5,7RSV

Becoming  an ‘overcomer’ of doubt or fear as a doer of the word, brings evidence of Grace at work. Under the direction and influence of God’s word is recognizing the voice of His Spirit at work in each follower. Becoming mature in Christ is recognizing what John the Baptist said: He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30 To affirm we belong to God and not the power of the flesh, Paul admonished the Corinthians when he said: ‘Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own.’ 1 Corinthians 3:19

Since I am not my own, I purpose to recognize laying up God’s word in my heart as the best tool in learning to lead.
