                               Now I Are One

 For to this end we toil and strive because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

In my earlier years my wife always reminded me… “ Don’t forget to look in on your folks on your way home from work!”
We  live in a physical world. But we’re to prepare our living and caring for our eternal home. My wife, and both our parents, have graduated to their eternal home to be in God’s presence. But what a legacy she left for us. Not neglect those who brought us into this world. For Yvonne, family was paramount. Her affection and obedience to provide care for our parents.
(cf: 1Tim 5:8) My love for her continues to grow, because of the example she held, to give me and our five children.

But we must not stop with our own flesh and blood. My opening verse applies to ALL our brothers and sisters in faith. When I retired from my responsibilities as a U S Civil Servant, I was asked to become part of a sharing and caring ministry from our church. For over 25 years now I have been lay pastoring at a local Sub Acute Re-Hab Center in a nearby community. Working in finance/accounting and administration, I never thought I be preaching God’s promises. But when the Spirit asks… the Spirit  equips!  “Thank You Lord!”  

In addition, I often ask our pastors by way of appeal, when they prepare their message for feeding us each Sunday, to address the congregation remembering we are ALL God’s Personal Property. Not just the youth and middle aged. Times I feel the messages are focused too much on our younger generation. The dialog and illustrations used are not always understood by the ’Ole Geezers Crowd.’ For some, there are too many generations in the generation gap. When I’ve been asked, “What does that  mean?”   

Father, though ‘I are now one,’ you continue to love and equip  me.
