“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” Psalm 17:15

The psalmist reflects upon his position in light of his relationship to the LORD in contrast to the standing of the wicked before the LORD. (vs. 9-14) He knows that only deliverance from their attacks will come from the LORD. But when all the battles are over and all the defeats dealt with and all the victories won, there is still a greater victory awaiting the psalmist at the end of life.

“As for me”...there is no mistaking the personal intimacy and application of this...“I will see Your face in righteousness.” There can be no satisfaction on this earth that can compare with that glorious satisfaction. “I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” To awaken with the dregs of his own likeness would be disastrous but to awake in the likeness of the LORD is life, light and liberty. He will not know how desperately he had yearned for this until he awakens to it.
