Captivity Dissolved

“Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the LORD ? For God is with the generation of the righteous. You shame the counsel of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion ! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” Psalm 14:4-7

Those lacking knowledge do not call upon the LORD. Ironically, they claim that their superior knowledge negates their need of calling upon a God they refuse to allow into their thoughts. “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” vs. 1

Their abuse of the LORD’s people does not go unseen nor will it go unpunished. That God is with His people, (those made right by Him) is undeniable.

The LORD is the ready refuge for the poor (those recognizing their need of Him) and though shamed by the workers of iniquity, they have no shame in looking to the LORD to meet their needs. When the captivity of the LORD’s people is dissolved by Him, rejoicing and gladness will abound.

Because many things seek to take me captive in this world, may I look to the LORD to release me from them and, even better, to be open to the LORD’s instruction and guidance that I not be taken captive in the first place, by His grace and for His glory.
