                God’s Word Is Our Purpose To His Will

 Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32 RSV

Whether Jew or gentile, we as followers of our Lord recognize we are God’s ‘personal property.’ Allowing Him to show us the way we are to walk. Finding what and why God gave us our ‘new life,’ will bring much joy and blessing. Since I am not my own, wearing the name ‘Christian,’ comes with responsibility to really know the One who created me. Putting Gods word in my heart for many years, teaches me why I work at listening  to hear the Voice of God’s Spirit and Word. His presence in me reveals the chaff, or worthless things that keep me from learning to lean on God, not myself.

Growing in the grace and knowledge of His promises bring a calm to me the world of unbelief cannot recognize or understand. I am learning more and more not to marginalize or be casual about wanting to really know the One I love first, most, and foremost. Beginning the day by purposing to spend time putting God’s promises (His word) in my heart enables me to recognize ‘the important’ over the urgent things before me every day.

In my senior years now, I have learned much of God’s promises. It brings the freedom promised becoming a ‘Doer of God’s word, much more than just a listener.  As in water face answers to face, so the mind of man reflects the man. Proverbs 29:19.           

                                            
The treasures we receive here and now become a glimpse to what our Lord is providing for us one day in eternity.

Father, your word in my heart is of more value than all the gold and silver built in Solomon’s Temple. Your word truly is the best purchase of all.
