                           Faith is Not Fear Or Fretting                            349 words

Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 RSV

It is next to impossible to succeed or accomplish what we set out to do, if fear takes over the mind, will, and emotion. Remember what happened to Elijah after his great victory against the priests of Baal?

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree; and he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am no better than my fathers.” And he lay down and slept under a broom tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” 1 Kings 19: 4-5 RSV

Even our biblical hero’s had their moments of desperate concern. But for God’s promise; ‘Greater is He who is in us…’ to pick us up and give strength to moments of what to do next.

Remember what Moses went through attempting to tell God to find someone else to lead His people Israel from bondage in Egypt?  But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11

We see Moses as a sheep herder in Midian after running from Egypt over fear from his past. We should be thankful God provides us, not only His way of forgiveness through Jesus, but His way of escape from fear. To keep us keeping on keep’n on.

He admonishes us to forget what lies behind!  To strive forward for the goal of the prize of His upward call for us. (Philippians 3:13-14) Continuing to find those challenges are therapeutic to our doubts and uncertainties.  

Father, when you strengthen us, our faith  is our overcomer-amen
