So we start a New Year
As we haven’t much choice
Twelve months to speak something
With our God-given voice.
For good or for ill
Every word that we say
Will have some effect
Every step of our way.
Regards the New Year
We haven’t a choice
But we have with our lips
With our God-given voice.
Far back in beginning
God’s voice spoke creation
Many, many years later
His Word brought salvation.
That Word was made flesh
In the person of Jesus
To live and to die
In his mercy to save us.
So let’s guard our lips
Let’s speak truth sincere
Let’s speak love and kindness
For a Happy New Year!
