Wounded Palms
Palms that broke the bread
Palms that healed and cured.
Hands that multiplied and fed
Hands that blessed and raised the dead
Those same hands are now nailed to the Cross.
Wounded feet
Feet that walked the dusty roads
Feet that climbed the mountains so tall.
Feet that went after the lost sheep
Feet that stood for hours to teach
Those same feet are now nailed to the Cross.
Wounded side
A side that bore the heart of God
A heart that loved and loved the human race.
A heart willing to forgive and die for all
A heart the greatest on heaven and earth.
This same heart is lanced on the Cross
To shed forth blood and water, the divine Mercy of God.
Wounded shoulder
The shoulder that carried a splintered Cross.
The shoulder that bore the weight of the sins of all
The shoulder that had the most painful wound.
The shoulder lacerated with blood that fell,
Fell all the way to Calvary.
O wounded shoulder of Christ!
Wounded head
The head of Jesus full of power and wisdom
The head that thought and created us all.
This same head crowned with barbed thorns
Thorns piercing through the brain of Christ
Our broken Saviour, a red crown of blood.
Wounded body
The body of Christ scourged with lashes
Innocent man disfigured beyond recognition
Blood dripping and pouring as Jesus was dragged.
Wounded body then hammered with nails
Wounded body hanging for three hours on the Cross.
Wounded body of the Son of God giving up his spirit.
Resurrected body
The body of Jesus coming alive
The tomb open and empty for us to see.
The Resurrected body with the marks of nails
Now walking on earth for still more forty days.
Ascended body
Jesus ascending in a thick cloud
Glory filling the air and earth alike.
Shouts of joy and trumpets blast
Angels in a myriad among the clouds.
Jesus now seated at the right hand of the Father.
