GOD DETERMINES EVERY MATTER

 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time for every matter and for every work. Eccl 3:17 ESV

All the seasons of our living are filled with purpose. To recognize the presence of God leading us with everything we do, or set out to do. Our pursuits we plan from adolescence forward, lead us to what we are about today. How we might be challenged to discover God plays a vital part in who we become.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
 even the wicked for the day of trouble. Proverbs 16:3-4

I find even in my old age; I purpose to dedicate each new day for His honor. Doing so gives value and significance to what might be ahead of me. I choose to want the power of God’s presence to go before me. Requesting to listen to the voice of His Spirit helps determine the ‘important’ over the urgent. Urgent being those daily distractions less significant than what really matters.

When Sampson became thirsty after striking a thousand Philistines, he called upon the Lord for fear of dying from thirst. God split open ‘the hollow place,’ and water came out. Amazing, how Sampson’s cup of prayer put sweetness into the waters he drank. (cf: Judges 15:19)

The point being, God recognizes we cannot get something closer to us than what we have in our heart. When we consider God determines every matter, we’re not so apt to be casual with our petitions through prayer.  

Whether one be starting his work day each morning, or like myself outside the work environment, our Lord looks at our heart to see how much we are wanting His sufficiency over our own determination.

Father, we recognize you determine every matter before us. Help us to put each care into what matters the most.
