The Next Day
John the Baptist’s wilderness life was never easy.
John knew he had a vital ministry in God’s eternal purpose. He knew he’d been appointed to prepare people for the coming of Jesus, the promised Messiah, the only One who could save his people from their sins.
But when Jesus would begin his saving ministry John didn’t know exactly.
Like all of us today, John didn’t know exactly what each day would bring. John’s tomorrow was probably as uncertain as ours often is.
But the Bible spoke to John just as it speaks to you and to me: “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27:1. NKJV
But John the Baptist had an infinitely glorious tomorrow.
It was a day of infinite transformation.
“The next day!”
Three glorious words in the gospel of John the apostle
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 NKJV.
How much I need to see Jesus coming towards me.
