I shall not pass this way again
This is my childhood lane.
Fairy stories, toys and games
Fun and school, no care in the world.
I must enjoy the sprint and run
For I will not walk on this lane later.
I shall not pass this way again
This is the road of my youth.
Wisdom and friends
The joy of adolesence
Promises kept, secrets met.
I must enjoy the delight it brings.
For I cannot set foot on this road again.
I shall not pass this way again.
This is the journey of mid life.
A lot on my shoulders and mind.
Deadlines, work, a future to see.
Yet I must find the silver lining
For this way will pass me by soon.
I shall not pass this way again
This is the track of senior life.
The past comes back to gladden or sadden
Fraility and dependence takes over.
Yet I must thank God for a life well lived
For this way will soon be behind me.
I shall not pass this way again
A one lifetime ticket to live on earth.
Once we shall inhabit this planet
Each pathway will retain our footsteps.
The time will soon come for a better world
When we pass through the life on earth,
To go on ahead and reach the new path of heaven
A clearing in the clouds onto paradise.
