The Dregs of the Chalice
Unto the last sediment of pain,
Unto the last drop in it
I have to drink it all.
The Humility of the Chalice
The cup of suffering that I raise.
It cannot be passed away
Until I drink it of my own will.
The Vessel of the Chalice
This is where I shed the final drop.
The blood and water that flowed from my heart
You too must drink from this fount of love.
The Holiness of the Chalice
Is held high daily in my memory.
I am present in it at all times
As you drink of the sacred wine.
The Beauty of the Chalice
Contains the saving blood.
Unless you all partake in it
You will have no part in me.
The Symbolism of the Chalice
Invites you to also taste a new wine.
A wine of the kingdom of my father
Which will one day flow as rivers do.
