When our eyes met
I could feel the pain behind your tears.
I could see the anguish in your heart
I could not bear that you had to see me like this.

When our eyes met
My soul was sorrowful.
The sword that Simeon foretold
Had pierced your heart today.

When our eyes met
You gazed at me in a grieved way.
You could not even begin to comprehend
What I had been through and was going through.

When our eyes met
You saw at once in my own,
The scourging, the crowning
The weight so heavy that I fell thrice.

When our eyes met
You gave me a strong hope.
Your smile was the only friendly one
In the sea of crowd that had rejected me.

When our eyes met
You prayed along with my own
That my ordeal would not be in vain.
That all would know the riches of heaven
That none would be left out.

When our eyes met.
We placed our trust in God.
This was his decree, his plan
To save each and every soul of his creation.

When our eyes met
I looked deep into your eyes,
The purest love this earth had seen
Could be found filled in them.

When our eyes met
It was a very moving meeting.
The hills of Calvary will embalm this moment
The sorrows that were wrought upon two loving hearts.

When our eyes met
We looked forward to what was to come.
The imperishable to replace the perishable
The new self to give a perpetual risen life.
