 THE VALUE OF THE PROMISER

Listening to Dr Charles Stanley recently, he shared something very profound. “The value of the promise depends on the Promiser.” I thought, how insightful to recognize all that our ‘Promiser’ gives us.

In my daily quiet time, and reading recently, in 2 Timothy, I was meditating upon verse nine. ‘who saved us and called us toa holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.’
 2 Timothy 1:9 ESV

WOW! ‘before the ages began?’ When I reflect growing up in Wisconsin, over half way across the United States from I now live, and serving our Lord. How could one recognize where the Lord takes and leads us?

We must take notice of our lives, what God purposed before creation, recognizing all His creation has significance and value.

Jesus grew up under the influence of Joseph, in his carpenter shop. I grew up under the influence of my earthly dad, who had a small machine shop. As Jesus was influenced in the skill of carpentry, I was influenced how to repair and fix things. As a teen, learning how to repair my own car.

But recognizing our heavenly Father’s will, Jesus came to save sinners. As a young boy I always delighted when dad would take me fishing. Little could I ever imagine after retirement from public service, I’d become a fisher of men. (cf: Mathew 4:19) Planting seeds of hope, giving light of our Lord to follow.

Father, thank you for teaching me the ‘value of the Promiser.’ Where I am today was determined before ‘the ages began.’ AMEN
