I was thinking this morning of all the butterflies I have made over the last few weeks for our church Christmas play, and it reminded me so of how we live out our love each day.

Every day we're given a new butterfly, all rolled out and cut into shape, ready to put in the oven and bake, and once that is done there are so many ways to splash it with colors and shapes.

The heat of the oven takes the pliable dough, and bakes it hard like a stone, to withstand being handled, maybe rough, maybe not, that it may encounter before it is done.

Our love is like that, each day so fresh and new, and the days experiences may apply pressure and heat, but it just makes our love all the stronger for it, in the process it may bend, but it will not break.

Once done, the butterfly is now ready for some color, and here's where we let our imagination take flight, and give that butterfly-shape a new color for the day, a shade on which all else will be built.

It may be the bright shining red of love, or the deep blue of peace, the green of hope, or the gold of joy that will come along the way...then with the smallest of brushes we paint on the design, each day so different, yet the same...for each one is an expression of the love we have for each other, each line and dot means something too.

We draw lines with each loving gesture, and dots with the love shown in our eyes when they meet, for in the language of our hearts, no words are needed, the living of each moment together is all we need.

The finishing touch, the crowning touch of beauty is the grace God pours out from above, like shining bits of glitter that stick to our design, and turn it into tiny mirrors reflecting His light, and His love. And the most wonderful thing of all is knowing that come tomorrow, we'll get to begin anew, and build a new design, using all that we've received today, the love, and the prayer and the grace that God has given that we have shared between us two.
