In all of the Christmas decorations in the box, there is one that is meant to hang in a wide doorway - it is a series of paper stars in a graduated series, hanging from thin strands of thread, each row of the series is anchored and tied to the cord that forms the base of it all. And when you look a little closer at the star shapes hanging there, in festive colors of dark green and red, you wonder how that strip of paper got folded to become a star.

They are so intricate, made of just one strip of paper each, but folded with such patience and skill, just to become a decoration, seen for a brief time each year, a delight adding its silent touch of beauty to the room.

And I feel that each day, God gives to us a brand new strip of paper...one of a different color, it may be narrow or wide, and if we follow His instructions, we can make a star. He's given us His word, the ultimate 'how-to' book, and reading that we know just how to act.... and with each little gesture of love that we make, and each word of hope that we speak, we've taken that strip of paper and begun to make the folds, to create the shape that God would have us be.

We cannot see how to get to the end, the direction each fold of the paper should go, and sometimes we fold it wrong, creating a tangle instead of a star. But when we take it to God, He smiles and reaches down, smoothing out the wrong fold like it had never been.

As the day goes on, we see the paper taking shape, as our love for each other increases, so does our skill in the folding too, and into each fold, God tucks His forgiveness and His grace, sufficient to see us through.

At each days end, the star is completed and hung by a thread to the design that is our life...that thread is our love, so strong for one another, and anchored to the cord of God's infinite love for us.

What a joy it is each day to make a brand new star to add in to the design, and to look up and see them all dancing in the breeze of God's blessings...my joy is complete, my happiness is brand new, and all over again I give my heart to you.
