           Obeying The Voice of God’s Word

Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Psalm 103:20 ESV

I feel blessed to have laid up God’s word in my heart over the years. There have been many occasions I felt the Spirit of the Lord knocking at my heart when circumstances before me were challenging. God will bring that special truth of concern for the moment.

Learning to hear and obey the voice of the word can often bring God’s ‘way of escape’ from despair or doubt. Many years in my administrative and financial responsibilities, while at work, our Lord revealed how He would equip me for the task. Especially with regard to not becoming anxious over the responsibility.

Today, in the work environment one might feel very threatened because of new limitations or restrictions. What and how to dialog with another for fear of some discrimination.

Before retirement, I was prompted in a ‘stand-up session,’ to remind our employees of our Nation’s ‘National Day of Prayer,’ the first Thursday of May each year. I brought the proposal before my immediate supervisor. He sent it to our manager who replied in so many words; “No! You might be offending someone.”

The Next year I again, felt God’s Spirit and word prompting me. I prayed much the night before, and the next day I felt I needed to obey God more than ‘man.’ The result was so positive and many came to my desk and thanked me, along with some asking prayer for one of their family.

Father, give us bold courage to obey the Voice of your Word, and not fear the flesh.
