Do You Look or Do You See?




Do You Look or Do You See?

Saw my Friend shed some tears
Paused a moment to draw her near
Silently prayed to relieve all fear
Gratefully told her she was dear

Respectfully glancing back at me
With words of grace and honesty
Told me such prayers were misdirected
Perchance I came from the wrong perspective

Tenderly my Friend inquired of me
Had I seen the glimmer of joy in her tears?
Had I noticed the tell tale signs of relief?

For as she explained
Her tears were full of joy and not of pain
But only fell from an overflowing heart
Expressing God's love that would never depart

With a tender smile full of love and peace
My Friend bowed her head and prayed for me
That I would not only look but that I would see!
