                                      Jesus Paid The Cost

 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Mathew 13:44ESV

As I was reading Mathew 13 one morning recently, The ‘parable of the hidden treasure,’ it brought something to my attention. Jesus paid the full cost for me for my redemption. There is nothing I could ever do to earn my salvation. Especially to believe I would ever have a big enough bank account some day to finance my way to eternity in paradise.

Some might be led to believe… ‘unless I pay my monthly tithe, or keep busy in ministry to the point exhaustion, I’ll never enter the kingdom of God.’ Satan will do everything in his power to lie to us, wanting us to stumble into believing… “I’m not good enough!”

Anyone whoever studied the life of Martin Luther recognizes the futility of one submitting  himself to extreme hardship believing all his sins required some kind of penance. Until he centered himself to recognizing: “ For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”Romans 1:17

Jesus redemption for us does not require us to sell all our possessions to find joy and intimacy of His abiding presence. Only to recognize all we are responsible for; God asks us to be proper stewards of His resources.

The treasures we receive, God does not hide from us, only to recognize, put Him first and most in all our living. Remember, our redemption does not require a dollar sign!
