           Meteorological Demonstration

  “The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with every one who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 RSV

One probably doesn’t realize, when Jesus spoke with Nicodemus, he was giving a weather report. Defining the Holy Spirit at work can be recognized as blessing or warning.
 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
 which shines brighter and brighter until full day. Proverbs 4:18

He dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth upon a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth. 2 Samuel 23:4

Even through bad weather, there was opportunity when Jesus was delivering a message for trusting faith.

 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.  And they went and woke him, saying, “Save, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” Mathew 8:24-26

Our own storms may not be as a strong gale blowing down on us, but the anxiousness we feel is very real.

I better understand whenever I read the Mathew eight passage; our Savior is always with us and goes before us to calm the terror that grips my strength. There is no terrestrial disturbance God’s Spirit hasn’t conquered.
