                                SEALED ‘IN HIM’

 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 RSV

Watching my wife making some plumb jam awhile back she was so carful and diligent. After filling the jars, she then used special lids to properly seal the jam jars. Until such time that one of us would open and spread this delicious treat of jam on our morning toast.  

The simile our Lord gives each of His followers, ‘to be sealed ‘In Him,’ is a most wonderful promise. There is no temptation common to man, because being sealed in Christ, is our hope for victory. The power of darkness brings temptation of evil and contention going on all around us every day. But being sealed in Him, is our protection over all the darts of darkness.  

 Our Lord, in his infinite love, protects and leads us with each new dawning. We might be called to open the lid of our heart to others. Letting the flavor of His fragrance flow in testimony, or a needed helping hand for another.

But being sealed in Him, is our own ‘Hedge of thorns,’ as God goes before us to lead and protect. The ‘Postscript Promise’ to this come from Ephesians 1:14.

Which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Father, thank you for the preeminence of your presence abiding in us. For the possession of promise and protection throughout each hour of each new day. For the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge how you seal us -in Jesus, AMEN
