From before creation God existed and has been in control (Psalm 90:1-2 and 33:6). God rules and nothing comes close in comparison to Him (Psalm 89:6-8). He did “found the earth, and the heavens are the work of His hands”(Psalm 102:25). God’s throne is established in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all”(Psalm 103:19).

     God rules from the heavens. Isaiah 66:1 says “Heaven is my home and the earth is my footstool.“ From above God “looks down from heaven upon humanity to see if there is anyone who understands and seeks after Him”(Psalm 53:2). From his dwelling place He looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth (Psalm 33:24). Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, in heaven and on earth (Psalm 135:6).

     Psalm 75:7 says that “God is the judge; He puts down one and exalts another.” This applies to government leaders, and God can even use evil and corrupt leaders to accomplish His purpose for humanity. He is also in control of the nations (Acts 17:26-27). He gives each nation freedom to go its own way, to either seek God or forsake Him (Acts 14:16). However, God always has the last word on how the nations rule. Psalm 33:10-12: “The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the people. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord...” Nations have sought to do things their way, but God “who sits in the heavens laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger, and terrify them in His fury (Psalm 2:3-4).

     Even though God is ultimately in control, each individual who has ever lived has been created with a free will. Many people have used their free will for power, greed, and many other things, to make evil and corrupt choices. There is deception. All of these things have negatively affected humanity. What should that tell you about the condition of the human heart? It is inherently sinful. God has allowed this free will to take the world to where it is now. The message God has for humanity is how corrupt, evil, and deceptive people can become without the grace of God at work in their lives, and hopefully, recognize their need for the Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for their sins and rose from the dead. 

     It is God’s desire for all people to come to a knowledge of the truth, especially as it concerns one’s eternal destiny. However, at this moment there is much deception, depraved thinking, and delusion. This too, was prophesied in the days prior to the Second Coming of Christ. (Refer to Matthew 24:4 and 11; Romans 1:28-32; and I Thessalonians 2:11-12, respectively). 

     At the present time and with future happenings, God will soon reveal His power and glory that will leave humanity without excuse in acknowledging Him as the Creator and Redeemer of the world - the one and only Savior. 

     God has always been, and ever will be, in control!
