The tempter came to Him and said, "if you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread". But Jesus answered, "It is written,: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Then the devil took Him to the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple..." -Matthew 4:3,4

As I mentioned in my last blog, only one church is southern Bucks County, PA has been hosting dine in meals for the homeless and those in need. These meals are more than a meal, but a ministry where churches can present the gospel by reading scripture and by reacing out to people to show their Christian concern. The meals are a place where people meet and become friends. They share each other's lives and concerns.

A few years back at one of the meals one of the hosts reached out to a guy who was struggling with drug addiction. The man was in a stupor and mumbled "I need to go to rehab". The host sat with the guy at a table and ministered to him. Sometime after that, when I visited a friend at a short term in patient drug rehab, I saw that guy from that meal. He told me he realized the gravity of the problem and that he is serious about resolving it. A couple weeks after that encounter, I saw the host that ministered to him and told him that I had seen the man he had talked with at the prior meal. He wanted to visit the guy in the in patient center but as it was a short term treatment place so he may not still be there. Later his cousin told me he was at a longer treatment in patient center in another part of the state and was doing well and added his cousin had a job.

Not having the opportunity to minister is one cost of COVID hysteria, spread by the media, politicians and other fear mongers who want to force their will on people. There is no reason to be scared.

"The wicked flee when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions". -Proverbs 28:1 The COVID hysteria reminds me of a scene in Mell Brooks' Robin Hood; Men in Tights where, as a young lad approaches Robin and his men from the distance he is screemly hysterially and frantically waves his arms around. After he talks with Robin and his merry men, he leaves with the same hysteria. "Strange lad", Robin says after the lad leaves.

Faith over fear, man!

Christians should practice the same faith and servant attitude that they did after the fall of the Roman Empire during a plague. Everyone who could fleed. The Christians remained to take care of the sick.
