Heatwaves and Bible Prophecy

     Heatwaves are happening all over the world and setting records. They will increasingly become more intense. Why do I say this? Because Bible prophecy predicts it. These heatwaves brought to mind Revelation 16:9. A time is soon coming when humanity will be “scorched with fierce heat.” This refers to a weather event occurring during the Tribulation Period, when God will either cause or allow all sorts of terrible things to take place on Planet Earth in response to humanity’s rejection of Him. 

     Heatwaves, however, are only one of many things named in the Book of Revelation prophesied to happen during the Tribulation Period. Revelation 6:8 mentions famine and pestilence. A pestilence is what the world has endured through COVID-19. Revelation 16, besides fierce heat, lists darkness associated with pain, a great earthquake more powerful than any that have occurred in history, and huge hail stones weighing 100 pounds!

     Getting back to heatwaves, is it possible as previously cited in Revelation 16:9, to be “scorched with fierce heat?” Consider this: At 118 degree air temperature it is possible for human skin to suffer first degree burns.* Some heatwaves are surpassing that degree. 

     The point that I am making is that it is not a stretch to believe that what is being prophesied in the Bible can literally be fulfilled. The only difference, I believe, is that heatwaves during the Tribulation Period will not be isolated events but rather will happen all over the world. July 4,2023, was the hottest day globally, on record, according to the U.S.National Center for Environmental Prediction (Edited on 7/4/23) and 2023 is predicted to be the hottest year on record. An article on heatwaves had a bar graph showing that they are increasing in frequency, duration, intensity, and in the length of the season.  Heatwaves will occur along with earthquakes, droughts, pestilences, hail storms, etc. Right now the world is witnessing these things and others not listed happening with greater frequency and intensity, to which Matthew 24:8 compares as “birth pangs.” Whether or not it is “global warming”, what the world is experiencing now with heatwaves all over the world pales in comparison to what is to come in the seven-year Tribulation Period. Global warming IS coming with unbearable scorching heat. But is it really man-made or God-caused? 

     The good news is that you do not have to be here to endure all these things. God has an escape plan, of which you can be part, if you simply decide to acknowledge Him, and accept His Son, Jesus Christ, as your only Savior. Make that decision before it is too late.
