Are The GIANT Images Leading Toward the Image of the Beast?

Imagine a ten-story giant figure that can move its head and arms, and which can change into a life-like image of anyone who walks inside a scanner.  In fact, it has the ability to instantly change into the exact image of a person, past or present. This animatronic is coming to 21 cities in the next two to three years. It is called “The Giant” and will be the world’s tallest moving statue. It was recently a feature story on NBC’s Today Show.

     The purpose of this “giant of a project” is to celebrate, through technology, humanity and its achievements. 

     Genesis 11:4-6, in the Old Testament of the Bible, tells the story of the Tower of Babel, which in some ways parallels The Giant. People got together and said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name...”

     The people of this time had a celebration of humanity, but in complete disregard for God. What did God do? At that time in history everyone spoke the same language (11:1). God put a stop to the arrogance and the building project by confusing the languages, thereby making it impossible for the builders to communicate with each other (11:7). 

     There is the same attitude today. Humanity is glorifying itself without any acknowledgement of God. It is basically saying, “Look what we can do, and we have no use for God.”

     Fast forward to Revelation 13. This chapter of this prophetic book focuses on a time to come when the whole world will be under the control of a dictator called the “beast.” Verse 14 says that all who dwell on the earth will be told to “make an image to the beast.”

     Just as “The Giant” will reportedly be able to speak, so will the image in Revelation 13, but with one significant difference. Verse 14 says that “breath was given to the image.” This obviously means it will become a life form! How breath will be given to the image, or by whom or what, is not revealed in this verse, but it would have to be through a supernatural means. 

     So, in the coming Tribulation Period there will be an image of the world dictator, the beast, and that image will become a living being. The stage is being set. Could this Giant be another piece preparing the way for the fulfillment of Revelation 13? You decide. One thing for sure, just as God intervened at the Tower of Babel, He will do so again against the arrogance and disregard of humanity toward God. Where do you stand with God?
