Asleep in Apathy

Today’s world is  a world of illusion and deception, better stated as smoke and mirrors. World famous showman PT Barnum, famous for his  world-renowned circus venue, is said to have uttered the famous quote, ”There is a sucker born every minute.” No factual proof that Mr. Barnum actually conjured up that phrase, yet it rings true in today’s society. The gullibility of the so-called modern man, with access to more knowledge than has ever been available in the history of mankind is unfathomable, and yet the world appears to be spiraling in a rapidly increasing descent into utter chaos, with the supposedly intelligent leaders,  and society as a whole, oblivious to the rapidly deteriorating conditions hurtling  us towards a major impact with reality.

With the advent of television in the early 50’s,  sports, entertainment, sex, and materialistic wealth  began to be used as tools of  distractions from the real issues of society, we  began a slow descent into a world where illusion and deception were the norm  and were convinced by those authoritarian figures  to accept anything  from the one-eyed tube of light sitting in front of us as political, scientific and or medical fact with no need to  question the knowledgeable authorities. After all,your best interest is their primary goal.

The constant flow over the years of the illusions and deceptions spewed forth, created a major impact on the mental ability of the majority to make sound and reasonable decisions for the future as well as the present welfare of their families, communities, and themselves,  instead relying on what the talking heads in the little tube of light tells them.

Because of this, and in spite of some in the Christian community warning of the dangers, society has descended into such an apathetic, sinful, and wickedly violent state that it is almost impossible to awaken them to the dangers which lay ahead. Priorities have been redirected to sports, entertainment, and the acquisition of materialistic wealth as the most important aspect of life. Most, including Christians, can recite a historical biography  of sports and entertainment figures, down to the most intimate details, but cannot tell you who their political representative is, or who the Apostles were.

1^st Corinthians 8:11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

The Christian society is not immune to this apathy, and it is evident in the congregations and in Christian circles as well. The apathy in the churches is astounding. Much like the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus’s day whom Jesus rebuked for their monotonous ritualistic lifestyles of all show and no substance.

According to a recent George Barna poll, only 6% of Christians have a Biblical world view even though 51% identify as Christian.

Jeremiah prophesied against Judah for their apathy and lack of obedience to God’s word, and because of their apathy,  they ignored the warnings.

Jeremiah 3:3.; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed

Here Jeremiah the prophet, is warning Judah of their apathy ,of being so perverted and hardened to sin that they are no longer shamed by it. The Christians of today are standing  at the brink of this identical situation which Jeremiah and Ezekiel are warning of.   The Christians of today have forgotten  the meaning of sin.. “make a chain for the land is filled with crimes of blood and the city is full of violence” Ezek.7:3

What other nation in the western world exhibits the volume of violent crimes as the United States?

The writing is on the wall, yet very few see or understand what is happening in this world. The prophecies of the patriarchs and those of Jesus as He taught the multitudes were given as warnings for the future generation of the end times to make preparations, warn others, strengthen themselves in the word of God to be able to withstand what Jesus, Jeremiah, Daniel and others warned of the times of Jacobs troubles when Michael stands as  Daniel 12:1 states; And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. (Matt 24:21 Mark 13:19)

At this point those not having sufficient oil (spiritual strength) will be left out in the cold as the seven last plagues of Revelation 16 begin falling on this earth, and just as in Noah’s day, those not in the Ark were doomed with no source of rescue, the final warning had been given and was rejected for the last time.

Is your spiritual lamp full? Are you prepared with the whole armor of God as your protection?  Will you reject the truth of God’s word for the pleasures of this world?

There will not  be a second chance of redemption during a deceptively taught seven-year tribulation period, as some denominations teach. God didn’t give the people of Noah’s day a second chance, and He will not give the final generation a second chance. Once the door is closed,  it’s all over. The Holy Spirit has been withdrawn, the redeemed are being protected, just as they were during the plagues in Egypt, and Noah and his family in the ark, as the world experiences the final wrath of God.

Amos 8:11-12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD and shall not find it.

It is my hope and prayer that you will open God’s word, ask the Holy Spirit for guidance as you study for yourself seeking the truth, repent of your sins, put on the whole armor of God ( God’s word) as your protection against the fiery attacks of Satan.

May God add a blessing to the going forth of His word and to those reading it.
