                                                  ARE YOU LOST YET?

There comes a moment in our walk by faith when we come to recognize losing something is a good thing. One might feel a regret when we misplace or lose a keepsake precious to us. When a loved one departs from us to be with the Lord. There could be any number of situations we might feel lost.

I remember a moment from my youth, when about 9-10, I was walking home from visiting a cousin who lived maybe 2-3 miles from our home. My youthful confidence told me… ‘I could do this; I didn’t need someone to drive me home.’ It was getting dark, but I felt I had plenty of time to get home before it got too dark to find my way. The end result was I had to stop at a neighbor on the way to call home.

Getting lost to ‘self confidence’ takes on many different situations. New life’ in Jesus is also one, where we are required to lose our way to find it.

‘And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it.’ Luke 9:23-24 RSV

Losing my way to surrender ‘self-will’, to find something better in the power of God’s preeminence, might be example what Jesus told Nicodemus about ‘new birth.’  There is indeed much to gain when we understand the power of God’s presence to show us the way.
Father, show us how to lose our life to find it in Jesus…. AMEN
